Mission Nicaragua :: Day 11

Mission Nicaragua :: Day 11

We woke up and knew today was going to be a bittersweet day. The realization has set in that we are nearly done with our mission here in Nicaragua. Our day started in usual fashion and then we were loaded up and headed to Sister Ruby’s house. We have experienced so much at Ruby’s house of prayer through the years and it is honestly a highlight of our mission. Ruby was an amazing woman of God and mighty prayer warrior….

Mission Nicaragua :: Day 10

Mission Nicaragua :: Day 10

You know that feeling when you pray to God actually believing He is powerful and capable to do what He has promised? I know that doesn’t typically characterize the prayer life of many followers of Christ, but we are learning to grow in our dependance on God and our communication with Him through prayer. So, honestly I wasn’t too surprised to see all our team at breakfast this morning. I mean, after all, we have been crying out to Him…

Mission Nicaragua :: Day 9

Mission Nicaragua :: Day 9

This team continues to amaze me with their perseverance. After trying to speed up our team time and small group time, we managed to get everyone in the bed by 10 pm. That seemed to make a big difference in our day today. We still had to leave some behind – four today, but praise God the two from yesterday rejoined the team. It is really hard to leave teammates behind and we certainly feel the loss, but a day…

Mission Nicaragua :: Day 8

Mission Nicaragua :: Day 8

God’s mercies are new each and every morning. What a privilege our morning time is each and every day. I’m personally refreshed and also encouraged seeing our students take advantage of TAWG each and every day. The beauty of the countryside and stillness of the morning is a real treasure here. But we did wake up to some bad news that a few on our team had a rough night. We call it Nica stomach… it eventually gets to some on…

Mission Nicaragua :: Day 7

Mission Nicaragua :: Day 7

It’s hard to believe that we are passing the halfway point of our mission here in Nicaragua. We’ve seen a team go and another few teams join us. Sundays are special here in Nica. We had our time alone with God and then loaded up the bus to head to Verbo Church. We love to worship at Verbo! It’s always such an amazing foretaste of the day when ALL the nations, tribes and tongues will gather in worship to Almighty…

Mission Nicaragua :: Day 6

Mission Nicaragua :: Day 6

We have returned today with some aching backs, arms, legs and just about every other muscle in our bodies! Thankfully, most everyone is feeling well – we’ve had a few battling some “not feeling up to par” but those that are working are most certainly sore… and dirty… and exhausted. Today was our first full day of construction and we hit the ground running with taking out more dirt to prepare for the concrete work that will start on Monday….

Mission Nicaragua :: Day 5

Mission Nicaragua :: Day 5

Today was a great day. There’s really no other way to put it. But it was also a day full of emotions. It was our last day of camp, but a different day of camp. We started our final camp by taking a journey up to Chapel Hill at Ruby Ranch. Chapel Hill has a special place in my heart as one of our previous teams initially cleared the land on that hill. We started to see the vision that…

Mission Nicaragua :: Day 4

Mission Nicaragua :: Day 4

As our day comes to a close each day, at our team time, I ask a question… “Where did you see God today?” We are learning to see with our spiritual eyes where God is at work all around us. We are also learning to hear with our spiritual ears, God speaking. This is always a favorite part of my trip to watch our students learn to see and hear God better. We know He is active and present and…

Mission Nicaragua :: Day 3

Mission Nicaragua :: Day 3

Psalm 133 reminds us “how good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity”. This couldn’t be more true for mission teams as well.  And praise God, we are experiencing and walking in unity as a team. As I watch our students in action each leading their groups around or facilitating their stations I see a visible picture of the body of Christ working together in unity. Using their strengths and abilities, these students are faithfully serving as…

Mission Nicaragua :: Day 2

Mission Nicaragua :: Day 2

Our first full day here has come and gone. We get a pretty early start here – not just because we have to, but because the birds and sun like to start on the early side (we’re two hours behind Tallahassee). But we all woke pretty refreshed after a full night’s rest. We loaded the bus and headed out to Ruby Ranch.  The “Double R” has an amazing story of God’s providence and faithfulness to a vision to see the…
